Master Captain Kaskavili, representative of the Aldori Swordlords, has dispatched us to explore The Stolen Lands and dispatch justice to the lawless brigands therein:

“Be it known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east and west and sixty miles south of ”/wikis/olegs-trading-post" class=“wiki-page-link”> Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this 24th day of Talistril, under the watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by the Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne.

At Oleg’s Trading Post, the party met Oleg & Svetlana Leveton.

  • Arrived after we dealt with the bandits, while we were out exploring the Greenbelt.

This One Time? At Bandit Camp?
[Elean enters, stage left]

Thorn River (Bandit) Camp

● We decide to carefully explore the suspected Bandit Camp location by following the river through the area.

● As we approach we meet Elean Vessire Rogarvia who slips out of the underbrush to inform us that the bandits are expecting us and have set a trap.

● We come up with a brilliant plan that utterly fails, and we proceed to show them how not to hit the broadside of a barn. Repeatedly. …and, yet, we eventually prevail.

Jhod Kavken – Priest of Erastil (at Oleg’s)

Quest: Seeks a lost Temple of Erastil that has been corrupted, to the south and east. He believes it’s guarded by an unusual bear. There’s something not quite right about it.

Boggard & Slurk: Boggard farmer by the name of Garuum and his pet slurk named Ubagub.

Random Boggards: 3 stupid, angry Boggards attacked us. We slew them.

Our Heroes' Triumphant Return

Oaktop Silver Mine

● A broken sign reads Oaktop S———-ine above a rocky outcropping with a large crevasse. There is a mite (fey) in a rough cage.

● A Kobold entreats us to enter the mine and talk to Chief Sootscale and Tartuk, their shaman. Elean bargained for the kobolds to make us a map of the bandit

● “Mites live in big, ugly tree.”

● “There are many humans on other side of river.”

● Chief Sootscale pointed out where the bigger bandit camp is on the map.

Quest: retrieve sacred statue. Quest rewards:

○ magic dust
○ brass ring w/ pearl
○ 250 gold

Quest: a curse has befallen the tribe. Kobolds turn yellow and die. Death of Tartuk, the Usurper leads to…

○ Chief Sootscale broke the statue to break the curse.
○ journal: Tartook was a gnome who died in a battle against kobolds. In an attempt to surrender, his town thought he was sacrificing himself. Therefore, they used their one reincarnation spell to reincarnate him, and he became a Kobold. Then he went vengeance crazy and infiltrated Kobold camps to destroy them.

We Don't Need no Stinking Bandits

River Crossing

Burned out building across the river, one rope left of bridge, new-ish bell. Thrash rang the bell (of course). Creepy humanoid thing came up out of the river and said, “My crossing, my price. The Stag Lord will pay with his bones.”

Crooked, Forked Tree

We recognize it from the map from the trapdoor spider’s den. Buried beneath the tree is a masterwork dagger, wand of burning hands, silver ring (75gp), spellbook. Spellbook is mostly ruined, but it looks like 5 spells are retrievable: identify, mage armor, reduce person, silent image, unseen servant.

Fang Berry Bushes

We fought a two spider swarms. Thank the gods for that Wand of Burning Hands.


The Stag Lord’s Camp

● The Kobolds provided us a lovely map of the camp. (Thanks, Elean!)

● We hatched a brilliant plan for Elean to sneak over the wall, incapacitate guards, and open the gate. …but, then, ZOMBIE landmines happened.

● While Elean was dealing with the zombies and distracting guards on the backside of the keep, we decided to commit a frontal assault.

● Graeme cast Knock on the front gate as Thrash ran forward to cover our approach with Obscuring Mist.

● There was a great skirmish inside the keep. There was much Grease and a Flaming Sphere or two. There were some badass villains we laid waste with our superior tactics and a raging barbarian.

● And then the Stag Lord released his pet Owlbear, and they joined the fight. Alas, they were too little too late. …especially as we had convinced one of the previously mentioned badasses (Akiros Ismort) to switch sides.

● Handel quickly dispatched the Owlbear, and then we had a snipe hunt for the Stag Lord who appeared to be super deadly with a bow, but not so much of a challenge in melee.

Return to Restov and Founding a Kingdom
So it begins...

● Meanwhile Elean gets some bad news. His old criminal friends are on to him, and want him to keep his end of the bargain. Prevarication ensues, followed by a tit-for-tat model.

A New Kingdom

Upon returning to the Greenbelt, the party founded the city of Staghelm in the former Stag Lord’s camp. Our initial small council includes:

New Settlement! Tatzylford
NPCs building town near our kingdom

Loy Rezbin and Latricia building new settlement Tatzylford. We will prioritize exploration towards new settlement (near river bend, by statue and dead unicorn).

Halflings, Ponies, and Wagons! Oh my!
Only the horses

Jubilee Darthrapple and his band of halfling explorers was attacked by lizardfolk. After saving his wagon and ponies, he advised us he was on a quest to explore this region.

As an archeologist Jubes was really into digging up old ruins and such. He’s really dismayed that the temple was taken over by bandits and that it’s been turned into a kingdom. He’s going to make camp with us, and we’ll share stories of amazing places he’s discovered. Obviously we’re not going to disturb these sites of archeological significance. Nope, not us. We wouldn’t dream of disturbing such important places with our adventuring ways.

He told us about the witch in the swamp, Candlemere Tower, a ferry to get there, and elven ruins. We’re looking for a way across the river to get to the witch.

Nixies <3 Feather Tokens

We came across a meeting of loggers from our town and a water fey, Melianse, who was controlling some of the loggers. The loggers needed to clear wood but the faire didn’t want her area touches.

After a short battle with the loggers, the loggers walked away and decided to leave our town. The fey said that to make amends, we should speak to a nearby Dryad to get some Feather Tokens on the other side of the river. We need to find a way across the river to get these tokens.

In our search for a river crossing, we discovered that Tatzylford is aptly named. There is a natural ford at their location where we could cross the river. We overnighted there before continuing our latest quest.

Dryads <3 Everyone, Except Scythe Trees
Sex in the Woodsy

We managed to get across the river to visit the Dryad and her consort, Tiressia and Falchos. She is completely willing to give us some Feather Tokens and bone us if we can help defeat a Scythe Tree that has been tormenting her and her manservant.

We found the scythe tree. It was an epic and terrible battle, and our stalwart companion and Thrash’s lifelong companion Bull died heroically. We renamed the Murque River as Bull Run.

We returned to the dryad and informed her of our success and the terrible, terrible price we paid. She rewarded us with the promised feather tokens, an awesome robe, sex, and a scroll. She said she’d give us a stability bonus by looking out for trouble.

On our way back to Melianse, we were attacked by bears. Dispatching the bears, we gave the tokens to Melianse, who also gave us a stability bonus by looking out for trouble.

Thrash Takes Bereavement Leave
A Death in the Family

Thrash has left his friends to venture into the woods in hopes of finding spiritual ground after his childhood friend was slain in front of him. Traumatized, I’m sure this will affect him for years to come. There’s no way he’ll find another Elk and move on with in, say, a day. Nope. No way he’ll move on that quickly.
